One Twitter user asked Demi a question to elaborate on the ‘funniest prank’ she had ever pulled on someone.

She answered with a tweet (which has since been deleted), describing a prank she played on her bodyguard while in Vegas, “[Sic] I hired a lady of the night in Vegas and sent her to Max’s hotel room to surprise him. She walked into his room without permission and grabbed him in his ‘area’ and he freaked the f*ck out hahahahaha”

Even though the Skyscraper star found it funny, many fans were offended and labeled it as sexual harassment and assault.

One user wrote, “I’m not okay with this. That is sexual harassment on Demi’s part, and sexual assault on the other woman’s part. I am beyond disgusted by this.”

On the other hand, many loyal supporters stood by her during this misunderstood time. (Image source: Instagram/Demi Lovato)

Others said that they had a right to be offended. One wrote, “You literally tweeted about someone being sexually assaulted people have a right to be offended.”

However, many of her loyal supporters stood by her, arguing she was misunderstood.

One user said, “This has all been blown way out of proportion. Yes, Demi’s wording was of poor choice but the prank itself was innocent and just a bit of fun. We love you [Demi] and we’ll never stop protecting you from the haters.”

After seeing the negative response to her answer, Demi got furious. She then posted another tweet which read, “I swear I could tweet something about craving jelly beans and it would offend someone.”

But the sarcastic and witty tweet only led to more hatred towards the singer. The next day, on Sunday evening, she posted another tweet in an attempt to defend herself.

It read, “For all of those coming at me rn, listen to the lyrics of Warrior and maybe you’ll have more compassion for someone who made a simple mistake. Of all people I know about sexual abuse. You don’t have to educate me.”

She followed that up by stating, “So sorry if anyone was offended.”

No matter what fans thought, what was important was what the ‘victim’ thought. The man whom the prank was played on, Max Lea, also replied to commotion.

He said, “I was not [offended],” in response to Demi’s apology for offending anyone.

He then added, “Really! You guys all need to ‘Grow Up’! It was a joke and a fun prank from someone whose incredible to work for and with. And does everything she can for her fans, family and friends. Love you [Demi].”

Besides this question, the rest of the question and answer session went smoothly and everyone had a good time reading Demi’s answers.

One answer, which sparked restlessness, was when she revealed that her new songs would be coming out soon. She said, “Not next week but maybe the week after…”

She even hinted that one of the songs would be about heartbreak.
